2010 Nations Cup Series
AUS Cheer’s Nations Cup series is designed to recognise the best Australian Cheer and Dance teams across the entire season.  To win a TYPICAL competition you have to be good for a day, but to win the Nations Cup you have to be GREAT all year!  Is your team up for the challenge?

Every time you enter an AUS Cheer competition you’ll be earning points for the Nations Cup series. That means you’ll be competing against teams from across Australia, all season.

We listened to your feedback, and have made the Nations Cup Series even simpler to understand, and easier to earn points! So put away your calculators because this year the Nations Cup series is based on your team’s score, plus some handy bonus points for just turning up! Your team’s top three scores will count towards your final Nations Cup Series total. Click here to find out more about the Nations Cup scoring system.

As well as crowning the Grand Champions in Dance and Cheer, this year we’ll be recognising the top ten teams in each category. So what are you waiting for... enter your team in an AUS Cheer event today.

Click here find an AUS Cheer event near you.

How do I register?
When your team competes at any AUS Cheer event, your team is automatically entered in the Nations Cup series.

When does the Nations Cup Series start?
The Nations Cup series starts with the first Australian Challenge event of the year in May and ends at the Australian Grand in October.

How do I earn points?
Earning points for the Nations Cup Series is easy. Teams accumulate points throughout the entire AUS Cheer season. Firstly, you receive points for just turning up! And then your performance score is used to calculate your final score.

At the end of the four rounds, the top three scores for each team will be added together to calculate their final Nations Cup standing. To reward teams who travel to more than three AUS Cheer competitions, the bonus points will ALWAYS be included in your final placing.

Here is how AUS Cheer will calculate each team’s Nations Cup points:
Each team’s final score will be multiplied by 10.  This is the number of points that the team will receive for that event.  For example, a team with a final score of 128 will receive 1,280 points.

Level adjustment (Cheer)
As scores are out of 165 points for teams entered in Level 1, and 200 points for teams entered in Level 2-6, teams entered in Level 1 will have their performance score multiplied by 200, then divided by 165, to get an adjusted score out of 200 points.

Bonus points!
Bonus Points will be earned at every event attended, regardless if the team score is used from that event (for teams that attend more than 3 events).
·         Each team that attends an Australian Challenge will receive 100 Bonus Points (per event).
·         Each team that attends an Australian Showdown will receive 200 Bonus Points.
·         Each team that attends the AUS Cheer Internationals or Australian Grand will receive 300 Bonus Points (per event).

How many winners will there be?
AUS Cheer will recognise top 10 teams in both Cheer and Dance for their excellence in the Nations Cup Series.  Here’s how!

Top 10 teams in each category will receive:
-    Website Recognition
-    Team Certificate

Winner from each category will receive:
-    Website Recognition
-    Team Banner
-    Commemorative Gift

How often will the results be updated?
Updated Nations Cup Series results will be posted on the Leaderboard page on Wednesday following each event.  Make sure you keep up with the Nations Cup Series…it’s is going to be a race to the finish!  GOOD LUCK!

The JAMcamps and Team JAM workshops are about to hit Australia!
Over 500 cheerleaders have already signed up for the opportunity to gain the hottest and latest cheer and dance material, valuable team-building exercises, organisational tips and much more.

Here is a little information about two of the amazing presenters we have for you at JAMcamps!

Matt is a former all-star cheerleader who has garnered multiple national titles and is very well respected throughout the cheerleading industry. He is a former 7 time National champion.
He has also earned 7 individual national championships. He earned his bachelor degree at the University of Louisville where he cheered for 4 years.
He then moved to Hawaii, where he is finishing up his graduate degree while cheering. Matt has also won 3 World championships in his cheerleading career. Matt has coached and choreographed for numerous teams all over the United States.

Cheering on in the community
GNSW was invited to Sunny Hill Juvenile Justice Centre to conduct a 'come n try' workshop on Tuesday 23rd of February. The group consisted of 8 girls aged between 12 and 16yrs who had never seen the sport before but after the hour you would think they were professionals showing strong stunts, great jumps and fast motions.  The school staff and Principal also enjoyed the workshop as it offered not only enjoyment to the group but life skills such as team work, communication and trust.

Congratulations to the GWA cheer award winners for 2009, announced at the GWA dinner and awards night on the 6th of Feb!
Club of the Year:  Fit 2 Cheer
Coach of the Year: Debbie Gough
Official of the Year: Ann Ranieri

South Australian Courses
GSA will be holding a Level 1 Cheerleading Coaches Course on Saturday March 21st & Sunday March 22nd and a Cheerleading Judge Update Course on March 22nd. These may be the only South Australian courses held for the year, so don’t miss out! For more information or enrolments, contact Lynn Martin.

Judges Corner
We will be posting periodic judging points or clarifications that we feel will help both coaches and judges with their routines and competitions.

Attire Violations:
There will no longer be attire checks before the commencement of a competition. The onus will now be on Coaches to ensure that all safety and attire requirements are met. This includes fingernails being short, no jewellery being worn and all uniform and footwear safe and secure. These requirements apply to both team and safety spotter members.
If a violation is seen whilst competing the team will incur a deduction.
